Recently I was talking to one of my girlfriends about how whenever I travel, I am awakened to inspiration on things that I want to implement in my life and my career. I don't travel to find ideas but the ideas always come to me.
It's because we get to connect with ourselves, we rediscover the things that we love and we get to step away from all the noise in our busy lives.
Did you know I started the Sisterhood of Surf retreat business whilst I was on holidays. I was so inspired by ideas and a vision that I sat at the beach and wrote out a whole business plan and well... 10 months later, we have done 2 amazing retreats, 6 one day surf events and we have 5 upcoming retreats and 2 surf events. My point is this was never part of my career or life plan and by taking myself out of my normal environment, I have now started this amazing chapter in my life which I am so grateful for.
When you invest in a getaway, you are also investing in yourself.
I want to share with you 5 reasons why embarking on journeys and exploring new places is not only exciting but also incredibly good for your overall well-being.
Grounding: Travel exposes you to diverse cultures, traditions, and ways of life. Immersing yourself in new environments broadens your horizons and makes you appreciate the simple things in your life. Experiencing different ways of life opens your mind to new perspectives. It challenges your preconceptions and encourages you to think critically about the world around you. This newfound awareness can lead to fresh insights and creative thinking in your personal and professional endeavors.
Personal Growth: Stepping out of your comfort zone is an integral part of personal growth. Traveling often requires adapting to new situations, overcoming challenges, and developing problem-solving skills. These experiences build resilience and boost your self-confidence, ultimately enhancing your ability to face challenges in other areas of your life.
Stress Relief: Breaking away from your daily routine allows you to disconnect from work-related stressors and recharge your mental and emotional batteries.
Knowing it's coming: How good is it when you have a busy life, but you have something to look forward to in the near future? It's exciting. You look, you plan, you create something that you can't wait to get to. Helping you through those busy periods, knowing that it's coming!
Memories for a lifetime: Memories created through travel tend to be some of the most cherished ones. Whether it's watching a sunrise over a majestic landscape, meeting interesting people, or conquering a personal challenge, these experiences become stories that you'll fondly recount for years to come.
Incorporating travel into your life, whether it's a weekend getaway or an extended journey, can truly enrich your life in countless ways. The memories, experiences, and personal growth you gain from your travels are invaluable investments in your own well-being. So, consider carving out time for exploration and adventure – it's a gift to yourself that keeps on giving.
